Ten years after the discovery of the Friedrich's Ataxia (FA) gene mutation, a valid high quality research project might lead to a therapy for this disease.
To promote the participation of renowned worldwide scientists, and also to involve others from different research fields, in 2005, the RUDI Committee established the GoFAR fund in order to accomplish the goal of discovering a valid therapy to defeat the FA.
The RUDI Committee has accepted the challenge and has assumed an active role in achieving an international cooperation between Europe and the USA to accomplish the common goal of finding a valid FA treatment, by offering the GoFAR fund to the international scientific community.
In order to pursue this ambitious objective, it's now more than ever necessary for the RUDI Committee to have a strong support and contribution from all those affected by or involved with FA, especially if Europeans.
Without establishing a worldwide cooperation, we will never be able to put an end to the disease and save future generations from this progressive disabling pathology.
